I just bought this sound bar 2 weeks ago and it's worth what I paid for, if your looking for something that will compensate for the no speaker volume your cheap little 32inch tv won't put out, it's like speakers for your tv. I live in a 2story apartment and the walls are like paper thin so this sound bar would just be ideal for a situation like this.

Smart Sound is activated by pressing “sound effect” and holding for 5-10 seconds with sound bar remote. My DIRECTV remote powers all three off and on and functions well. Any other setup would create issues with one device or the other. It’s not how Samsung suggests the ARC to work but is how my DIRECTV works with Samsung. Hope this helps you.
